Dr. Alexa Walden French graduated from Heath High School in Paducah, KY. She continued to Miami University in Ohio, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry. While there, Dr. French was an Oxford Scholar and received multiple scholarships. She advanced to University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. During her time at UofL, she received the Pierre Fauchard award, which is awarded to a senior dental student for outstanding academic achievement.
Immediately after dental school, Dr. French completed a residency in general dentistry. The residency not only let her expand her knowledge and skills, but it allowed her to receive training and become licensed in IV sedation. Dr. French also learned and saw that a large percentage of the population does not get routine dental work because of their fear of the dentist. She is here to help those people get the treatment they need in a relaxed and comforting atmosphere.
Dr. French has a love of service. It is actually what sparked her journey to become a dentist (aside from the fact that her father is a dentist, and she always wanted to be just like him). In college, Dr. French volunteered at a dental clinic and saw a man receive dentures after having no teeth for years. He was so overcome with emotion and thankful. Dr. French knew in that moment that she wanted to help people smile.
Dr. French continued using her dental knowledge to volunteer during her days at UofL with a medical mission trip to Iquitos, Peru, where she performed dentistry on those in need. She continues to this day by teaching kids at local schools about oral health during National Children’s Dental Health Month. She also volunteers at various dental clinics throughout Kentucky, such as Dentistry From The Heart in her hometown of Paducah.
Dr. French is a dedicated professional who helps patients smile both in the office and during her volunteer work. She is also a member of the following professional societies:
- Louisville Dental Society
- Christian Medical Dental Association
- Young Professionals Association of Louisville
- Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity
