Around here, we like to make sure that our patients are well informed and can make the best decisions in regards to their dental treatment plans. Our Jeffersonville, IN dentist’s office knows that traditional metal braces have their place and that some folks might actually prefer such a set-up. But that old-school method is not the only way to treat orthodontic issues in adult patients.

So, if you are well beyond your teenage years and you are ready to do something about your crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth, we would love for you to schedule a visit to Kirchner Dental for a clear aligner consultation.

There are two primary systems to choose from as far as aligners go. Both Invisalign and ClearCorrect offer an easier way to get the job done than wearing brackets and wires for 2-3 years. Keep reading to hear more about this exciting opportunity and then be sure to follow up with our team.

How Do Aligners Work?

Like we said, there won’t be any metal required. Both treatments use the same general principle: they consist of clear plastic aligner trays similar to mouthpieces. We will help create a series of these custom-made aligners that will do all the orthodontic shifting in small increments. Once you get started, you’ll just switch them out on your own every two weeks or so instead of coming in for monthly in-office orthodontic adjustments!

Because both Invisalign and ClearCorrect aligners are made of a gentle yet durable plastic that feels natural on your gums, cheeks and tongue, it will feel natural as the process unfolds. Plus, they won’t be detected by any onlookers.

Whichever system you select, you will enjoy the smooth, comfortable aligners in part because they are also removable. That means that your food preferences won’t have to be modified. And maintaining your orthodontic gear is just a matter of rinsing the aligners under lukewarm water!

In our experience, we have found both Invisalign and ClearCorrect to be safe, subtle, and effective programs. Treatment time is usually only a matter of 6-12 months, depending on the severity of the problems we are fixing. Both plans offer great results in a fraction of the time, but there are a few differences, which brings us to our next point.

What’s The Difference?

Invisalign trays are made at the start of treatment, whereas ClearCorrect aligners can be made as you move forward. Invisalign was in use for about a decade before ClearCorrect came around, so it has a longer track record. However, ClearCorrect is made in the USA, whereas Invisalign materials are manufactured outside of the country. And ClearCorrect is normally a bit more affordable.
